I’m Emilía and I started This Plant Powered Life to spread love and share recipes with the world! I grew up with painful and debilitating autoimmune and auto-inflammatory symptoms that were later attributed to a rare genetic mutation. Initial lack of understanding by doctors lead to years of personal experimentation, and I eventually found myself walking down a path of intuitive living. Having cured myself and found a diet and lifestyle that allows me to thrive, I’m so excited to be sharing my recipes with others who have similar problems or simply want to feel better. Waking up pain-free and full of energy is a blessing I am grateful for every day, and I have plant foods to thank.
My recipes focus on whole foods and plants, and are always free from refined sugar, gluten and artificial or processed food products. Food is medicine, and even with strong genetic predisposition, we have the power to control which of our genes are active at any one time. The power to determine our long-term health is greatly in our own hands, and in the short-term, eating a plant-based diet allows us to go through our days enjoying an abundance of energy. Obtaining a majority of daily calories from fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds can really change our lives, and I also want to show you how delicious this diet can be!
Not only is eating plant foods a practice of self-love, but the Universe also extends love to us in return for decreasing our contribution to the devastation caused by animal agriculture. Now more than ever is it important for us to take social responsibility, and one of the best ways to achieve that is to become conscious consumers. We vote with our wallets, and anyone’s effort to decrease their animal product consumption makes a difference – you don’t have to be fully vegan or vegetarian for your choices to have a valuable impact.
